ALEPPO, SYRIA - JAN. 25: The Syrian Army has discovered a vast network of tunnels in the town of Sarrin, in the Aleppo province, following operations to clear the area of terror elements.
The massive underground complex, dug into mountain slopes, was reportedly constructed by the YPG terror group.
Visuals from the site reveal a sophisticated web of tunnels wide enough to accommodate vehicle traffic. Inside, army units discovered abandoned vehicles, along with significant stockpiles of both exploded and unexploded ammunition.
The infrastructure suggests the network was used extensively for logistics and defensive maneuvers, allowing for the protected movement of supplies and personnel.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that SDF forces launched more than 15 explosive drones at the town of Sarrin and surrounding villages in the Aleppo countryside, causing material damage to civilian homes and vehicles.
No injuries were reported.
The attacks came one day after the Syrian government extended a ceasefire with the SDF by 15 days.
