Nightmare scene as young child slips and falls 20 feet from ski lift
While snowboarding at Tussey Mountain, State College PA, I quickly realized a terrible situation was developing right before my eyes. A woman was enjoying a day of skiing with her kids, but their great day dramatically turned into a mother's nightmare. While boarding the ski lift, one of her boys failed to get properly seated. As the lift began to rise off the ground and up the mountain, the boy began to slip. Desperate to save her child, the boys mother leaned forward trying to pull the boy up, but to no avail. With a front row seat to a horrible scene, I powered on my Gopro Hero3 to capture the action. As the little boy was struggling to get onto the lift, his mother's grip began to weaken. People began shouting to stop the lift, but the worker's couldn't hear them. Finally the lift was stopped, and a lone skier stood ready to catch the boy while everyone watched. After what seemed like an eternity, it became apparent that the boy was certainly going to fall. Eventually his mother could hold him no more, and she stared as her 5 year-old son fell 20 feet down and was saved from certain destruction when the skier standing under the lift broke the boys fall. The EMS quickly took care of the boy, and he walked away with no injuries.
