Yachtsmen and Pilots struggle with Gale Force conditions
Strong, gale force winds from the east threw up a short, choppy sea in Mount's Bay, Cornwall today, providing harsh conditions for a yachtsman trying to get in to Newlyn harbour. The normally tranquil bay is perfect for sailing, but conditions today tested this skipper's seafaring skill.
At Land's End, pilots had to be alert to shifting wind gusts when landing, and pier walkers got caught out by spray from the wintry conditions.
