The Western Grey Kangaroo (Macropus fuliginosus) is the most widespread and abundant of all of the large kangaroo species in Australia. The genus name Macropus means 'big foot'.

Western Grey Kangaroos are most active from late afternoon until the early morning, and rest during the day in the shelter of shrubs and trees. They usually dig a hole for their hip to make themselves more comfortable while resting. While feeding, most often on grass, Western Grey Kangaroos move slowly forward with an unusual 'five-footed' gait, suing their tails and forearms to prop while swinging the huge hind feet forward.

This female was resting in a scrape in the sand under a Balga or Grass Tree in Yanchep National Park Western Australia.
