Kangaroo mothers relaxed with their large Joeys on a sunny winter’s day in Australia on July 8.

Western Grey Kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus) are found from southern Western Australia to western New South Wales. Western Grey Kangaroos are most active from late afternoon until the early morning, and rest during the day in the shelter of shrubs and trees. While feeding, most often on grass, Western Grey Kangaroos move slowly forward with an unusual ‘five-footed’ gait, using their tails and forearms to prop while swinging the huge hind feet forward. Western Grey Kangaroos are particularly abundant in Yanchep National Park, north of Perth. This delightful group of female Grey Kangaroos and their large, semi-independent Joeys was enjoying the sunshine after a dank, rainy week, loafing and grazing on the lawn.
