Monitor lizard devours fish as crows try to get a piece
A monitor lizard tucks into a large fish as hungry crows try to get a piece of his dinner.
The 5ft-long reptile grappled with the silver carp before dragging it onto the banks of the boating lake in Lumphini Park, Bangkok, last Tuesday (April 17).
He was tucking into the silver fish - briefly looking up to the camera to flash a delighted grin after taking his first bite.
But the lizard had competition from a gang of black crows, who made several attempts at getting the beaks on his supper.
The birds soon backed away, leaving the lizard to devour his dinner.
The scene caused a stir in the normally placid park with several passers-by gathering to look and take pictures of the Asian water monitor lizard.
Photographer Palm Panumas said: ''The lizard walked out of the lake and onto the grass. It was a male, I'm sure.
''He had a big fish in his mouth and he had put it down on the grass to bite. He was consumed with eating it.
