A monitor lizard sparked panic when it rampaged into a company's office.

The Godzilla-like reptile made a beeline from across the car park into the entrance steps of the demolition firm's building in Bangkok, Thailand on September 2.

CCTV footage shows the 5ft-long fast-footed reptile moving towards the property, sending the worried staff fleeing to safety.

The lizard hid under chairs while the frightened employees watched from a distance until it scampered back into the bushes on the edge of the parking lot.

One of the employees said: 'The monitor lizard caused a shock, but I think it's also a sign of good luck.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
