Amazing Hummingbird hawk-moth in wildflower meadow

The Hummingbird Hawk-moth is a migrant to in Britain. It is day flying moth which mimics the habits of the hummingbird by hovering over nectar rich flowers with extremely rapid wing beats.

Every year many people are taken aback as they see in their garden what appears at first sight to be a hummingbird hovering among their flowers. It seems to be a good year to spot Hummingbird Hawk-moth because of the really sunny dry weather we have had this summer.

This footage shows a moth feeding on flowers at Augill Pasture nature reserve in the Eden Valley Cumbria.
