A harbour in Japan's second city, Osaka, felt the full force of Typhoon Jebi after it made landfall on Tuesday (September 4).

Footage captured in the city shows strong winds blowing spray from the ocean far inland, with debris flying through the air.

Boats moored in the harbour look unsteady as the 162-kph winds batter the region.

The tropical storm was the strongest to hit Japan in 25 years.

Widespread damage was caused and Kansai airport, Japan's third-busiest, was closed and many travellers who were stranded in the terminal buildings were evacuated.
