Shelves at a DIY store in North Carolina are completely empty just days before Hurricane Florence is expected to make landfall.

Footage captured on September 11 at a Lowes in New Bern shows how tarpaulin sheets, concrete blocks and sandbags have all been bought up before the hurricane hits.

The filmer writes: "I got the last three bags of sand and they're all tore up.

"Two of them were half empty. I had the idea to buy bricks and put them inside heavy duty garbage bags to try and prevent flooding in my garage.

"We'll see how it goes."

The category four storm is expected to be one of the strongest to hit the East Coast in decades.
