Streets flooded in Virginia town as Florence tracks towards coastal Carolinas

Hurricane Florence moved towards the Carolinas on Monday, September 10, prompting evacuations and school closures in parts of flood-prone Virginia.

This video, filmed by Kristy Warren Stout, shows the flooding situation at around 1 pm in Bluefield, Tazewell County, behind First United Methodist Church.

The storm strengthened to a Category 4 hurricane in the afternoon, with maximum sustained winds near 130 mph, according to a National Hurricane Center. It is forecast to make landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Thursday.
