The Airbus A340-600 is fitted with four high-bypass turbofan 'Rolls Royce Trent 500' engines, each capable of producing 56,000 pounds of thrust. But how much really is that and what does it look like? Let's take a look as this Lufthansa Airbus A340-642 powers up for some powerful engine runs at Munich Airport.

As the throttle is increased, notice how the tailplane and whole fuselage begin to shake and wobble as the forward thrust fights against the parking brake. Behind the aircraft the bushes feel the full force of the thrust and are ferociously blown around. It is this immense power that helps get these massive aircraft in the air.

This video is of a Lufthansa Airbus A340-642 with the registration D-AIHI. The Lufthansa A340-642 taking off at the end of the video is D-AIHE. These videos were filmed at Munich Airport/Flughafen München (MUC/EDDM) on the 27th July 2016.
