A Russian passenger plane made an emergency landing in a cornfield near Moscow on Thursday (August 15) after striking a flock of birds.

Twenty-three people were injured in the incident, according to health officials.

The Ural Airlines Airbus 321 was travelling to Simferopol in Crimea when it hit a flock of gulls shortly after take-off, local media reported.

The Ural Airlines passenger plane made an emergency landing in the Ramensky district of Moscow Region - it sat right in the field.

A-321 with 226 passengers on board flew from Zhukovsky Airport to Simferopol and was forced to land due to engine ignition.

23 people were injured in an emergency landing of the A-321 aircraft, which flew in the morning from Zhukovsky Airport to Simferopol. On board were 234 people, including 7 crew members. When taking off, several large birds got into the liner's engines, after which it became almost impossible to fly and maneuver. The aircraft commander decided on an emergency emergency landing - the crew turned off the engines, did not release the landing gear and put the liner on a corn field in Ramensky district. By inflatable ramps, all passengers were evacuated from the passenger compartment. Arriving doctors assisted the victims on the spot, some of them were taken to hospitals. The remaining passengers and crew were delivered to the Zhukovsky airport building.
