The Kayan people are renowned for the striking appearance of their women, wearing rings or coils around the neck to give the appearance that the neck is stretched and their head floating above a pedestal of gold.

They are found in the remote hills of northern Thailand and this week joined in at a festival celebrating National Elephant Day at a sanctuary in Chiang Mai.
