A crocodile which fell into a 30-foot drywell in western India was hauled out by a group of villagers and forest officials in a daring rescue today (March 28).

A team of villagers using ropes tied around the trapped reptile to raise it out of the dried-up well in Kalyanpur in Devbhumi, Dwarka district, Gujarat state. The whole operation took nearly two hours to complete.

The crocodile is estimated to be 12-years-old and around 9 to 10 feet long, and fell into the well early this morning when walking over from the nearby Sani Dam.
