Baby elephant repeatedly gets splashed with mud by its mother

It was a hot summer day in the Kruger National Park when we found a small herd of elephants standing in a mud wallow right next to the road. The elephants really looked like they had lots of fun while enjoying splashing themselves with the muddy water. There was a large female elephant that kicked the muddy water repeatedly with one of her feet in an effort to splash the mud all over the underparts of her body. Little did the mother elephant know that her calf was standing right behind her. It was hysterical to see how the baby elephant was getting splashed with mud by its mother without her realizing it. We felt a little sorry for the young one at the same time. The baby elephant looked a little confused after the first few splashes of mud in the face and turned around for a short while. It was not long before the mother elephant started kicking again, this time splashing the baby elephant all over the one side of its body. The baby elephant decided it had enough of getting splashed with mud and quickly moved out of the mud wallow, away from its mother’s firing mud shots.
