This frightening visual captures the moment huge boulders, triggered by a landslide, falls off a cliff and disrupts traffic in northern India.

The incident took place on Sept. 2 at Chamoli district in Uttarakhand state.

Moments later, an entire portion of the cliff crashes into the ground, uprooting trees due to the landslides.

An excavator can be seen parked on the road, probably to clear the debris.

Landslides triggered by heavy rains in the state have blocked the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway for nearly one week.

The highway has been declared 'unsafe for vehicles'.

More than 90 roads in the state have been badly affected due to the landslides.

Earlier on Aug. 6, six pilgrims going to the Badrinath shrine were killed after a boulder hit the bus they were travelling in.

Meanwhile, regional meteorological centre has issued a 'yellow alert' for five districts in the state-Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri Garhwal. Tehri Garhwal and Nainital.
