Instagram influencer and photographer Natalie Karpushenko swims within touching distance of a baby sperm whale at a secret location in the Indian Ocean.

The video, filmed on May 12 by Mike Korostelev shows the incredible footage of their encounter, which took place as part of Whale Watching Russia.

Whale Watching Russia are a team of wildlife lovers, photographers and divers who travel around the world meeting marine mammals in their natural habitat.

The filmer told Newsflare: “Encounters like that do happen, but not too often.

“Our reaction - it was a priceless moment, we both felt really happy and excited at the same time, we're waiting for months to experience something like that.”

The video was posted on Natalie Karpushenko's Instagram account with the caption: "You should not touch the whale, even if he wants to touch you - it is better to avoid this moment, as I do in the video.

"Do not sail for the whale! You can swim with him in the same direction or hang in place and wait until he swims up.

"Be as calm as possible. Move smoothly, do not hit the flippers on the water, do not panic. When the whale is relaxed, you can repeat its movements, the whales especially like it."
