Jessica Estrada, director of the transparency area of the National Development Foundation (FUNDE), has spoken regarding their position of the International Commission against Impunity in San Salvador, El Salvador, on Thursday (November 21).

"We need more information to trust we will have a good commission...we insist on the necessity to be backed up by UNOS because they have the experience with CICI and it also opens doors to count on the experts of all systems in the United Unions," Jessica said in Spanish.

Salvadoran President, Nayib Bukele, had unveiled a new independent commission to tackle corruption, also known as the International Commission Against Impunity in El Salvador (CICIES) in September 2019.

The organization was inspired heavily by the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), (whose probes brought down dozens of senior officials and politicians).
