A clumsy calf was rescued after falling into a canal then slipping down the banks each time it tried to climb out.

The five-month-old brown baby cow followed a goat to the steep canal bank in Songkhla last Sunday (23/12) morning.

But while they were grazing near the banks, the calf accidentally slid down into the water.

Footage shows how rescuers tried to usher the calf back to the shore but it slid down the steep concrete. They then had to wade through the 3ft deep water and carry the animal to safety.

The relieved owner said: "I bought the mother cow for good luck. She gave birth to the calf, who loves to play with the goat.

"This morning they were playing at the steep bank but as the calf was bigger and heavier, he slid down."
