Forest department officials have rescued six pythons trapped in reinforced concrete pipes in the east Indian state of Odisha.

The incident took place on January 12 in the small village of Gajamara located in the state's Dhenkanal district.

Footage shows a snake-catcher crawling backwards after catching one of the pythons, with two other teammates seen waiting at the entrance to assist.

In total six pythons were recovered from the underground piping, with one being 18-feet in length.

According to the reports, the pythons were first discovered by the locals who heard a strange noise coming out of the pipes.

After the rescue operation, the snakes were released into the nearby forests.
