For the past weeks numerous railway blockages have wrecked havoc throughout the country of Canada. Supporters of the Wet'suwet'en people of British Columbia, a province in western Canada where the first nation is from, have blocked railroads therefore stopping trains. In St-Lambert, a small suburb outside of Montreal in Quebec, Canada, a few dozen demonstrators set up camp directly on the snowy tracks building up tents and makeshift snowbank barricades. Police are monitoring the situation and in a recent news update today February 20th, an injunction was served to protesters in St-Lambert. That means authorities may receive the command to intervene and lift the blockage using necessary force. For the time being, demonstrators are allowed to stay on the tracks but vehicular traffic remains free flowing on St-George Street west of St-Louis Street. Other similar protests have paralyzed railway traffic in other Canadian provinces preventing freight and passenger trains to reach destination in what is now considered a national crisis. The Wet'suwet'en people's initial and primordial request is targeted to the current government leaders in Canada and in BC to change the route of a pipeline that is meant to go through their territory.
