A massive pileup including 23 vehicles on a Chinese highway caused a huge fire, killing one person and injured 20.

The aftermath footage, filmed in the city of Songyuan in Jilin Province on March 20, shows vehicles engulfed in flames and smoke rising into the air on the G12 Hunchun–Ulanhot Expressway. Firefighters are seen using a hose to extinguish the fire.

According to reports, the visibility on the highway was low as someone burnt waste in the fields which are on the sides of the road, causing the incident.

One people was killed and 20 were injured, reports said. Injured people have been sent to hospital for treatment and the traffic returned back to normal.

据吉林高速公路公安局松原分局3月20日通报，2020年3月20日12时40分，高速公路公安局指挥中心接报警称：珲乌高速公路640km处(双向)发生交通事故。经查，3月20日12时30分许，珲乌高速公路640km处两侧农田有人“烧荒”,能见度突然降低，导致通行该处车辆发生事故。事故共涉及车辆23台，致1人死亡，20人受伤。

目前，高速公路公安局松原分局及相关部门正在现场全力开展工作，伤者均已送医救治，无人员受困。事故路段已恢复正常通行。(中国吉林网)
