Social distancing, a key tool in arresting the spread of novel coronavirus, is being strictly followed at a small ration shop in the western Indian state of Gujarat.

The incident took place in Girgadhada in Gir Somnath district on April 01, 2020.

Despite the nationwide lockdown announced by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, ration shops and other essential services are directed to remain open to help the residents with their essential commodities.

A small shop in the village has come up with a novel approach of enforcing social distancing.

At equal distances, circles are marked outside the shop to ensure that no crowd gathers outside in close proximities.

People wishing to enter the shop to buy household commodities must stay within the circles to enforce social distancing protocols.

Following this, every consumer is provided with hand sanitizers before they enter the stop.

This unique initiative taken up by the village ration shop will create awareness among the people regarding social distancing and sanitizing precautions.
