Firefighters in northern China rescued a calf trapped in a three-metre-deep well after it accidentally fell in.

The video, shot in the city of Dalian in Liaoning Province on April 21, shows a fireman tied by a rope being lowered into the well to attach the safety ropes to the calf.

A crane then was used to lift the calf up but failed, as the well was too narrow.

Firefighters then used an excavator to make the well wider before pulling the calf out of it.

According to reports, the four-month-old calf fell into the well accidentally when it was walking around.

四月二十一号中午十二点多，大连市消防救援支队得胜消防救援站接到报警，报警人说，他的牛掉进了井里。消防员们立即前往现场。
牛坠井的地方在金普新区先进装备制造业园区附近，牛主人说，他这头小牛只有四个月大，当天上午在溜达的时候不小心掉进了这口下水井里。
这污水井有三米多深，好在井里头并没有水，虽然小牛掉下去有段时间了，但还活着。为了方便救它，一名消防员下到井下进行侦查。
井口也就能有五六十厘米宽 就有容一个人下去 井下面的空间也不是很大 也就是一米一二左右
下到井里的消防员还顺便给小牛调整了一下姿态，防止它由于被困时间过长而窒息。随后消防员把绳子从小牛腿部缠绕，再用短绳缠绕在它腰部。这样做是为了用吊升装备把小牛给救出来。准备工作虽然挺充足，可是吊升这个方法最终却没有成功。

市消防救援支队得胜消防救援站执勤中队长助理 吴昆：因为那个井口非常小 它在掉下去的过程中 它是顺着掉下去的 但是我们想把它往上捞的时候 它不像人能顺过来 身体也非常大 那个牛有一米五长 所以说就顺不上来

下午一点多钟，一台挖掘机加入了救援，不久，下水井口被挖开，小牛被成功救出。
