Matador 3 floating crane barge at Thamesport, UK
Matador 3 - the largest floating sheerleg crane in the Netherlands (capable of lifting 1800 tonnes) - was seen this afternoon (May 19) lifting a heavy piece of machinery into place at Thamesport on the Isle of Grain, Kent before making the return trip to Holland.
A floating sheerleg is a barge with a crane built on shear legs. Unlike other types of crane vessel, it is not capable of rotating its crane independently of its hull.
