Police in Lutsk, western Ukraine have set up a large police cordon in response to an armed man who has taken around 20 hostages on a bus today (July 21).

Footage shows the perimeter that has been set up by authorities as passersby look on.

Local reports suggest the hostage-taker has "booby-trapped" the bus as well as discharging gunfire.

In Lutsk, the administrative center of the Volyn region of Ukraine, an armed man seized a bus containing about 20 people. This was reported by the local police on Tuesday, July 21, specifying that the criminal is carrying explosives and weapons.
The criminal is armed with grenades and a machine gun. He claims that the captured bus was booby-trapped, and that there is another car in the city with an explosive device that can be triggered remotely. Now this information is being checked, and miners are working in the city. At the scene, shooting was heard - the criminal has already opened fire twice in the direction of law enforcement.
