A new camp has opened shortly after a fire decimated Moria camp leaving 13,000 refugees and migrants homeless in Lesbos, Greece.

According to reports, around 1,200 people have been moved into the Kara Tepe camp which is expected to house 5,000.

There is a specific area for those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and everyone entering the camp is tested.

Many refugees are reluctant to move in as they fear conditions will be no better than the Moria camp, reports said.

New refugee camp in Kara Tepe or Mavrovouni location between Mytilene( Mitilini ) and Moria, on a former military camp has been created in a few days after the fire that destroyed completely Moria Refugee Camp, a First reception and registration center for asylum seekers. The army with contractors are building the tents and facilities of this new facility. Until now about 5000 refugee and migrants have been moved from the roadside where they sleep in makeshift tents towards the new camp of Lesbos island in Greece. Most of the people are from Afghanistan or Subsaharan countries in Africa. There is a specific area with tents for those who are positive in Covid-19 Coronavirus as everyone is being tested before entering the camp.
