Thousands gathered in Padang, despite the coronavirus pandemic, to protest against the Indonesian government's new labour laws.

Riot police are seen attempting to diffuse heightening tensions at the protest that occurred on October 7.

According to reports, the new laws have come under criticism from environmental experts and large investors who expressed concern over its impact on the country's forests.

Groups representing workers consider the bill to benefit investors at the disadvantage of workers.

Even though in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, the people of Padang City, Indonesia who are members of students, laborers and students held a demonstration against the new labor law validated by the Indonesian government in front of the people's representative office for the province of West Sumatra, 7 October 2020.

It appears that thousands of demonstrators also did not wear masks and were close together as if they had forgotten about the covid-19 virus which could move and threaten their lives.

This demonstration is a form of rejection of the Indonesian people against government decisions that are not pro-people because the new labor law is considered to benefit investors and disadvantages workers.
