Staff from a furniture factory in southern China were spotted kneeling down to slap themselves in a bizarre training exercise.

The bizarre video, shot in the city of Dongguan in Guangdong Province on October 21, shows the employees standing in a line to slap themselves on their faces in front of another row of employees sitting on chairs.

The furniture factory said the employees volunteered to do so. The training aimed to build an "iron army" and inspire the employees to reach their peak state.

The case is being investigated, reports said.
