California Fire Service responded to a large traffic collision involving a range rover and 13 parked cars in Menifee, California on November 9.

Footage shows substantial damage to the parked cars on Encanto Drive as the seriously battered Range Rover lies in the middle of the road as authorities assess the situation.

The driver of the Range Rover was taken to a local hospital but their condition is not yet known.

Residents were woken up in the early hours where some described hear "loud bangs" and "sirens."

The intentions of the driver are not yet clear and locals and authorities are trying to ascertain if the incident was an accident or on purpose.

One resident said: "The scene looks like a tank drove up the street."
