Hilarious footage shows how a motorist in the Philippines reverses along a narrow driveway so tight he has to climb out of the boot.

Nelson Guinto, 35, spends three minutes every day inching his black Honda Mobilio along the ramp while taking care not to scrape the mirrors.

Once at the top, it's such a squeeze that he is unable to open any of the doors and has to climb out of the back.

Nelson and other relatives have to perform the skilful manoeuvre every time they park outside the family home in Cavite, located southwest of Metro Manila.

The driver's brother-in-law, Norman, recorded the video on November 5 to demonstrate to locals who were baffled by the driveway.

He said his father built the wacky structure from blocks of concrete because parking had always been a problem in the congested area and stopping on the road outside is illegal.

They could never get a spot on the narrow road outside and the area below the ramp is used by other residents to walk through - so they could not park the car on the ground.

Norman said: "The parking space confuses all the neighbours but it's the best solution. Our car is safer at the top of the ramp and it's not blocking anybody as people can still walk through the passageway underneath.

''I made the video to explain the mysterious parking space because people had been talking about it on social media.’’

Local council officials allowed their unique parking structure because they are technically not violating any laws.

Traffic officers sometimes do surprise inspections on city roads to search for illegally parked cars on the narrow roads.

Illegally parked cars will be towed to the impounding office and the owner will be fined of up to 2,000 pesos (£31.5/$41).
