Snow clearance operations underway in northern India

Snow clearance operations have been launched on a number of roads in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir owing to the recent snowfall in the region. The development took place on Mughal road near Rajouri and Poonch district on November 17.

Visuals of the incident feature the hilly terrain filled with snow, tall trees adorned with the white flakes and black roads covered in white, citing to the recent weather conditions.

Heavy machinery is being used by the authorities to clear the snow in order to restore traffic.

The state witnessed the first snowfall of the season on November 12 which resulted in closure of roads in the region as well as of Srinagar highway.

However, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain or snow activity is likely to decrease significantly in the upcoming days.
