Stray dog adopted after being rescued from canal in Thailand
This is the heartwarming moment a stray dog was rescued after falling into a dirty canal in Thailand.
Residents discovered the helpless creature crying for help in the stinky waterway, tangled up in the floating plants in Bangkok on December 17.
Warut Fongamornkul, who lives nearby, said the pooch's cry was so loud they could even hear it in their homes.
The concerned resident followed the sound and discovered the trapped dog before calling his neighbours for help.
Some of his neighbours have arrived to check on the animal struggling to stay afloat but they were hesitant at first because of the dirty water.
However, a brave neighbour jumped into the filthy water and swam towards the stray dog while talking to it to calm it down.
He waddled on the dirty water before he was able to take hold of the dog and bring it back to the ground safely.
Warut said: "My neighbour is a hero. The stink was so bad I could even smell it in my garden. I'm so touched, he did not even hesitate to get into the water to rescue the dog."
The man took the pooch to the veterinarians to check for injuries but it was later discharged as it wasn't hurt from the incident. He also took the dog home with him for adoption.
