Air pollution in Thailand reaches unhealthy levels as viewed from Doi Suthep

An aerial view from Chiang Mai city in northern Thailand at the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park shows unhealthy levels of air pollution that has spread across the country.

The air quality index over the last 48 hours has ranged from 38 to 158 for PM 2.5 particles. The WHO considers 25 to be safe.

Over the last 48 hours the AQI for PM 10 particles has ranged from 16 to 103. The WHO considers under 20 to be safe.

The unhealthy pollution is expected to worsen during the dry season. The poor air quality is blamed on agricultural burning and vehicle emissions.
