Skydiver suffers terrifying double parachute malfunction

Buy video

A dramatic video has emerged of a skydiver spinning and landing heavily after his parachute cords got tangled up.

The footage, shot on the skydiver’s helmet camera during a jump over Perris, CA, US in late January, captures the moment the bridle connecting his pilot chute to the main canopy wrapped around the pilot chute, sending him spinning out of control.

After a dizzying descent, the man falls to the ground, heavily winded but still alive.

After being taken to hospital, the man was found to have sustained only minor injuries in the crash.

Writing online after the incident, the filmer said that he was very lucky to have escaped alive, as many staff at the dropzone expected the fall to be fatal.
