Three wild buffaloes, including one calf, were rescued from a 60ft (18.2m) deep well in India on Saturday 10 April.

The incident happened in Vedasenthur, a hilly village located near the Western Ghats mountain range.

Wild buffaloes, deers and monkeys from the forest are all frequent visitors to the village.

On Saturday three wild buffaloes in searching of food visited the village and fell into the well.

As it's the summer the well was dry and soon the buffaloes started making noise to attract attention.

Hearing the noise, the villagers informed forest officials, who came with a crane and vetinary team to tranquilise and rescue the animals.

The operation continued for 10 hours and finally the three wild buffaloes were rescued safely.
