This is the terrifying moment lightning struck a pine tree during a stormy weather in Wisconsin.

Footage shows the bolt of electricity hitting the evergreen before it collapsed outside a school in Wautoma City on April 9.

The tree’s trunk appeared to have briefly caught fire and sparked an orange blaze before it fell to pieces only a few seconds after.

No one was reportedly hurt from the incident as the school was vacant when the thunderstorm hit the area.

Wautoma High School principat Jennifer John said that aside from the tree, nothing else was damaged from the school property.

She said: ‘Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident and the property of the school was also not damaged.’

Following the incident, the US National Weather Services in the state reminded residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms.
