This clip shows peaceful demonstrators being attacked by violent individuals on May 1, in Paris.

The clashes took place between union workers and what the French police has defined as "radical elements".

A middle-aged man is unexpectedly punched in the head while walking. He faints and is rescued by other event participants.

The video features violent protesters attacking members of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), as well as hitting vans at the scene.

One of the drivers comes out of his vehicle, is threatened by a masked man, and asked: "Are you a fascist?".

A police source told AFP that far-left "black block" repeatedly tried to boycott the event.

According to the filmer, a racist insult or a CGT car blocking the street and allowing the arrest of one of the extremist protesters, seem to be behind the violent acts.
