This is the dramatic moment youngsters rescued two tourists trapped in raging waterfall in Indonesia.

Footage shows the young men holding each other’s arms to reach the tourists who were clinging on a rock as strong tides gushed through the rocks after heavy rain in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi on June 6.

They were able to pull both holiday makers to safety but they had a few bruises from hitting the rocks.

Onlooker Shal Sabilaa said: ‘My brother was the first to see the two men. The water suddenly gushed through because it rained. Some of his friends arrived and helped out.’

Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
