Mount Etna erupted spectacularly once again on Sunday (August 29) evening spewing lava hundreds of metres into the air.

The latest eruption caused up to 5 centimetres of ash to rain down on surrounding villages.

Etna is Europe's largest and most active volcano.

Beautiful lava fountains colored by the sunset light have reached 600 meters, the eruptive column was carried by the wind to the southeast, and the massive ash rain fell on the village of Milo up to 5 centimeters and on the town of Zafferana Etnea and on neighboring villages. This is the fifty-second eruptive episode from January 2021.
