Severe flooding in the Indian state of Assam is forcing wildlife out of Kaziranga National Park and onto roads and other higher ground.

Incessant rains in Assam and Arunanchal Pradesh have affected over 258,000 people across 16 districts, with rivers swollen and flooded.

It has had a major impact on wildlife too. Footage shot on 30 August shows large areas of Kaziranga National Park submerged in water.

Many animals, like elephants and rhinos, can be seen standing in flood waters, while other are being forced out of the park and into higher areas where they come into contact with humans.

Kaziranga hog deers are seen crossing highways to reach higher ground, risking their own lives and those of human car users.

As a result, the park and local authorities have introduced time cards and restricted speed limits for all vehicles on National Highway 37, which passes through the national park.

Indian state of Assam is reeling under severe flood situation , Over 2.58 lakh people across 16 districts have been affected. There is a continuous incessant rains in Assam and Arunanchal Pradesh due to this water level of most of the river increased and flowing above danger level .
Due to this flood Several areas and forest camps in Kaziranga national park have submerged in water , many animals like elephant , rhinos can be seen in waters , animals are coming out of the park due to flooding and going towards high areas , on 30th August Kaziranga hog deers rushing to highlands crossing highways in order to avoid flood in National Park can be seen crossing the road risking lives from transports on roads . The park authority and Local authority have introduced time cards and restricted speed limits for all vehicles on National Highway 37 which is passing through the national park



Assam state disaster management authority data tells 732 villages in 16 districts Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, Tinsukia, are reeling under water.
