Firemen had to remove a gold ring from a woman’s finger after her weight gain allegedly caused it to become stuck.

Jirawan Srisukhai, 45, and a resident of Thung Yai district, called the Southern Tek Tung Thung Yai Rescue Service in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on September 17 afternoon when her finger started to swell due to the ring’s constriction.

Footage shows Jirawan’s flesh reddened and engorged around her left middle finger as rescue members helped take it out.

The woman said: ‘I had earlier tried loosening the accessory using soap, detergent, and other methods, but it won’t come off. It was so painful.’

Her relative said she has been wearing the one-baht gold ring for a long time during which she gained weight and her fingers increased in size.

The firefighters reportedly also had difficulties prying the ring loose and eventually resorted to using pliers to successfully remove it from Jirawan’s swollen finger.

Jirawan’s finger was freed after almost an hour and thanked the volunteers for helping her. She said she did not regret having the ring removed

She said: ‘I would have to be careful from now on with the things I wear. I had to call an entire team of rescuers here just so I could be saved.’
