Theme park visitors were stranded today after a roller coaster stopped mid-ride during a power outage at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.

Footage shows the thrill-seekers trapped on top of the Hollywood Dream - the Ride at the theme park. All the other park attractions were also shut due to the power cut.

The ride was stuck near the highest point on its tracks with passengers on board. The riders were later guided down safely through the stairs.

There are 36 seats on the carriage but is unclear how many people were on the ride at the time.

No one was injured, according to Japan's Kyodo News.

A number of other attractions also reportedly stopped due to the power outage.
