This is the moment rescuers saved a roe deer that fell through the ice on a frozen lake in Belarus.

Footage captured on December 4 on Lake Obol showed a man approaching the stricken animal in a special kayak.

He managed to haul the deer onto the vessel and paddle it to safety.

The animal was handed over to park rangers who later released it into the wild.

The deer was not injured in the ordeal.

The fact that the animal fell through the ice was reported by a male eyewitness to the operational control center of the Braslav regional emergency department. Rescuers immediately left for the indicated place - Lake Obol near the village of Dvorische, Braslav district.
The operation to rescue the animal required a lot of effort and skill from the rescuers. But in the end we managed to get the roe deer out of the water. The wild beast was handed over to the workers of the nature protection institution Braslav Lakes National Park. After examination, he was released into his natural habitat. The animal was not injured.
