This is the moment an anime enthusiast walked his pet dog while dressed in a mecha suit in Japan.

Video shows the man cosplaying as Ideon from the 1980’s animated series ‘Space Runaway Ideon’ while out on a walk with his dog. The hapless pooch seemed scared of the robot costume and kept backing away from it.

The hobbyist created and wore the cardboard suit to a manga convention in Tokyo last July, but kept it after the event.

Space Runaway Ideon is a futuristic sci-fi anime created in 1980 by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the same man behind the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.

It tells of humanity’s conflict against alien clans who seek to capture the titular Ideon – three armored tanks that combine to form a giant mecha robot.

Mecha cosplay is similar to cosplay, but fans make costumes out of mechanics, giving the hobby the name ‘mecha cosplay’.
