A police officer rescued a boy that accidentally fell into a deep river in central China.

Video shot in the city of Puyang in Henan Province on January 3 shows a boy getting trapped in an around 3-metre-deep river and his mother asking help on the shore.

A passerby who could not swim walked into the deep river to try to approach the boy but failed. He then took a broom from the boy’s mother and stretched it out to try to let the boy grab it.

A police officer named Huang Shanrao was seen running to the site and swimming to the boy to bring him back to safety.

Huang did not leave until the boy’s vital signs returned to a stable state.

1月3日下午五点多，河南濮阳台前县灵妙河一男孩玩耍时不慎落水，据了解，该河水深3米左右，成年人尚且不敢靠近，由于落水少年身着羽绒服，落水后仰面半浮在水上，现场情况十分危急。
附近散步的民警黄善尧听到男孩母亲在岸旁求救后迅速跑过去，到了之后直接冲下水，游过去把男孩拉上了岸。男孩生命体征恢复平稳后，黄善尧才回家去换衣服。黄善尧称作为民警，遇到这种事肯定会第一时间冲上去。（视频由河南台提供）
