Firefighters rescued a 15-year-old boy grabbing a tree to avoid being washed away by rapid floodwater after the heaviest rainstorm on record hit central China.

The heroic video, shot in the city of Pingdingshan in Henan Province on July 23, shows a boy getting holding onto a tree.

Firefighters threw a rope to the other side of the river and formed a zipline.

A fireman then carried a life line, a life jacket and a rescue belt when approaching the boy. After putting the life jacket and rescue belt on for the boy, he was then pulled back to the shore by other firemen.

According to reports, the boy tried to ride an electric bike across the river but got trapped in the middle of it.

Luckily, someone spotted the incident and called the police for help.

The boy was rescued successfully and he was not in life-threatening condition.

7月23日12时07分，河南平顶山市119指挥中心接到报警称：暴雨导致河水上涨，鲁山县尧山镇大峡谷漂流下站处1人被困于河道中央的大树上，情况十分危急。指挥中心接到报警后，立即调派鲁山县消防救援大队3辆消防车、18名消防员前往处置。经过30多分钟的努力，被困人员被成功救出，无生命危险。经事后了解，该被困者是一名15岁的学生，想骑电动车通过漫水桥梁，结果由于水流湍急，不慎被河水冲入河道，所幸有群众发现，及时拨打119报警电话求助。（视频由河南台提供）
