Floods of lava rain from Mount Semeru again hit the Limpas Gondoruso bridge, Lumajang, East Java, Sunday (9/1/2022). The rain lava flood occurred after heavy rains flushed the summit area of ​​Mount Semeru for approximately 4 hours, although it did not affect residents' settlements, due to this rain lava flood, the Gondoruso Bridge was again filled with volcanic material, which was carried away by the flood.


The rain lava flood with an amplitude of 40 millimeters made residents who live around the lava lane panic. The rain lava flood brought Mount Semeru volcanic material in the form of sand and rocks, as well as deposits of hot lava material, causing hot smoke to billow along the lava flow.

"The heavy flow of rain lava also hit the body of the Gondoruso bridge, so that volcanic material filled up around the bridge again, even though the officers had just cleaned the flood material on this bridge," said the official, Agung Suharno.
