Huge LNG ship delivers gas to UK after European surge in demand
Gas ship 'SCF LA PEROUSE' was seen arriving in the UK after having travelled from Lake Charles, USA, this afternoon (January 26) off Sheerness, Kent.
The huge ship arrived to unload its cargo of gas to the National Grid's Grain LNG storage facility.
Several US gas ships have been supplying Europe in recent months due to sky-high European demand.
The gas is transported safely as super cooled LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) via huge storage tanks inside vessels.
The footage also briefly shows the stern of the ship passing shipwreck WW2 liberty shipwreck SS Richard Montgomery, which sank in 1944 close to a shipping channel off Sheerness.
